St. Josaphat, bishop, religious, martyr

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:

Wisdom 13:1-9
Psalm 19:2-5
Luke 17:26-37

A reflection on today's Scripture:

As we reflect upon today's scripture we hear great words of wisdom in an awesome time in each of our personal lives. Yes!!! God is talking to each of us personally. If we stand motionless and look around we can see creation at close range. The key of this vision is to be able to look beyond creation and see the creator.

St. Francis of Assisi marveled with awe at all of creation, but would give all praise & glory to the Creator within, God Himself.

As we hear the words from St. Luke about the coming of Son of Man, there will be similar things happening just as they did in the time of Noah and Lot. People that are caught up in temporal excitement of the day, see things only at close range. In this time we all should hope and pray that we are looking beyond the visual world, and fulfilling the will of the Father.

It will be a time of reckoning. He makes it very clear that some will be taken and others left. We have nothing to fear if we stay connected to the vine (Jesus), to live and serve the Body of Christ.

Jesus,
when we receive You at communion,
we see the appearance of bread at close range.
Our faith tells us to look beyond.
It is then that we see and receive
our Lord and Savior.
