Our Lady of the Rosary

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:

Malachi 3:13-20
Psalm 1:1-4,6
Luke 11:5-13

A reflection on today's Scripture:

God sees people divided into two groups: the just and the wicked. The sun of justice with its healing rays shines on those who fear the Lord.
God looks with compassion and keeps a record book containing the names of the just. The evildoers will be trampled, for good will triumph over evil.

In the gospel, Jesus preaches persistence when we pray for a favor.
St. Monica, for example, prayed for 17 years before her son, Augustine, saw the errors of his way and converted. Jesus says to ask, to search, to knock, and our prayers will eventually be answered.

What a wonderful father God is!

Our caring God is always in our midst, awaiting to send the Holy Spirit at our request at the proper time. God never tires, never becomes impatient whenever we pray.

Today is also the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. The rosary is a devotion to Jesus and Our Lady. God's saving love of grace through the mystery of the Redemption is made available through the recitation of the rosary. A beautiful form of prayer, the rosary can achieve so much for us all.
