Monday, 5th Week: Life Is Unpredictable; Trust Jesus

"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff -- they comfort me." Psalm 23:1-4

Life is unpredictable. We can be happy one day and sad the next, healthy one day and sick the next, rich one day and poor the next, alive one day and dead the next. So who is there to hold on to? Who is there to feel secure with? Who is there to trust at all times? Only Jesus, the Christ. He is our Lord, our shepherd, our rock, our stronghold, our refuge, our brother, our guide, and our friend. He came from God to be with us. He died for us, he was raised from the dead to open for us the way to God, and he is seated at God's right hand to welcome us home.

It's one thing to know this. Yet, when we experience Jesus as the One in whom we can indeed lean and depend through hardships and difficulties, we also encounter joy and freedom.

"Jesus, loving shepherd, guide and friend, help me to turn to you for the help I need to live my faith."
